Khulna Development Authority (KDA) and AKIJ Ispat Limited jointly organised an awareness seminar titled “Role of High Quality Reinforcement Bar in Earthquake-Resistant Construction in Bangladesh” at the KDA auditorium in Khulna at 11am on Thursday.
KDA Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Zahangir Hossain attended the seminar as the chief guest. Galib Mohammad, chief executive officer of AKIJ Ispat Limited, was present as the special guest, according to a press release.
The seminar, featured a keynote presentation by Dr Mehedi Ahmed Ansary, professor of Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and founder secretary general of the Bangladesh Earthquake Society.
Engineers, architects, teachers, representatives of residential area committees and other related professionals took part in the seminar. KDA Chief Engineer Kazi Md Sabirul Alam presided over the event.
