Miss World Bangladesh winner Rafah Nanjeba Torsa has joined upcoming crime thriller ‘Mati’. Directed by Tarif Syed, who also wrote the story and screenplay, the film has already completed most of the shooting.
Shot across Maheshpur, Mathpara and the Ichamati river region near Dhaka Jhenaidah border areas reflecting rural realities, Mati’s plot explores borderland lives shaped by Farakka Dam, climate change pressures, booming flower markets and cross-border crimes.
Director Tarif Syed says river decline forced villagers into floriculture before trafficking syndicates later infiltrated trade routes across fragile borders.
Alongside Torsa and newcomer Alvi Mamun, the cast includes Md Iqbal Hossain, Mahmud Alam and Ashiq Sarkar in key roles.
Mati is eyeing theatrical release nationwide during the Eid ul Azha festive season later this year officially.
