Special prayers for the late BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia were held across the country after Jummah on Friday, with prayers also offered in other religious places.
A government letter, signed by Islamic Foundation Director of the Coordination Branch Mohammad Mohiuddin, confirmed the matter.
Following Jummah, National Mosque Baitul Mukarram Khatib Maulana Abdul Malek offered prayers along with devotees for Khaleda Zia during the munajat.
Khaleda Zia passed away at 6am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. She was 80.
