The 300 Feet Road in Bashundhara, Dhaka, has turned into a sea of people as thousands gathered to welcome BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on his return after nearly 17 years of exile in London.
The road and its surrounding areas were already packed by 8:00am.
By around 11am, the 300 Feet Road and adjacent areas were packed with people, with no standing room left in front of the stage or nearby, as leaders and activists gathered in large numbers.
The stage has been fully prepared with 19 chairs placed on it, while members of the security forces were deployed around the venue to maintain order.
Tarique Rahman is returning home after spending 17 years and three months in exile, adding to the growing excitement among supporters gathered in the area.
He left London’s Heathrow Airport on Wednesday at 6pm local time on a Bangladesh Airlines London–Dhaka flight and is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 11:55am.
