According to a post on the CA Press Wing’s official Facebook page, a propaganda website and some social media accounts have falsely claimed that Arakan Army and Kuki-Chin rebels seized control of Ruma Police Station in Bandarban. They claimed that a significant portion of the Bandarban Hill Tracts have fallen under the control of the armed groups. They also claimed that local schools were abandoned, markets emptied, and fear reigns among locals.

However, such claims are entirely false, the post went on to say.

Arakan Army and Kuki-Chin Rebels did not seize control any parts of Bandarban. Bandarban Police Superintendent Shahidullah Kowsar, PPM (BAR), has officially labeled these reports as fake.

Investigations show that the rumors originated from accounts linked to deposed Awami League activists and certain individuals of Indian origin spreading misinformation.

“We urge everyone to exercise caution, verify facts carefully, and avoid sharing unverified information,” it said.
