Daffodil International University (DIU) celebrated Parents’ Day 2025 on Friday, at its Daffodil Smart City campus in a warm, emotional and family-centred atmosphere.
Organised by the Art of Living (AOL) programme under the Office of Students’ Affairs, the daylong event aims to strengthen human connection, moral values and the parent–student–teacher relationship, according to a press release.
More than 2,000 students and their parents took part in the celebration, transforming the campus into a space marked by gratitude, affection and togetherness.
Many students embraced their parents in emotional moments, expressing love and appreciation in a deeply moving environment.
The chief guest, noted actor, writer and cultural figure Abul Hayat, delivered an inspiring address, saying parents are the first university in every child’s life, adding that despite changes in the world, the love and moral values learned within the family remain a young person’s greatest strength. He also praised DIU’s approach to integrating humanity with modern education.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M R Kabir expressed gratitude to the parents, saying the university’s goal is not only academic instruction but also the nurturing of character, empathy and responsibility. He said Parents’ Day serves as a reminder that every student’s success is built on a strong family foundation.
Founder and Chairman of DIU Dr Md Sabur Khan highlighted the university’s long-standing commitment to value-based education, noting that the institution’s mission is to prepare a generation capable of leading society with integrity, ethics and humanity.
He said Parents’ Day reflects the belief that education goes beyond textbooks and is a shared journey involving family, community and meaningful experience.
Throughout the day, the programme featured expressive sessions, cultural performances, parent–teacher–student interactions, gratitude sessions and the symbolic “Feet-Washing Ceremony”, representing deep respect and love.
Parents are also touring campus facilities and engaging in discussions with university officials on the academic and personal development of their children.
Parents’ Day 2025 is reinforcing the emotional bond between students and their families while further strengthening the partnership between parents and the university, contributing to the development of morally grounded, responsible and value-driven future leaders.
