The International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday will record the prosecution’s testimony in a case against former minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president Hasanul Haq Inu, who is accused of committing crimes against humanity during the July uprising.
Earlier on 2 December, the ICT-2, comprising Judge Md Manjurul Bashid, and Judge Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir set the date for recording testimony.
On 25 September 25, the prosecution submitted eight specific charges to the tribunal. On that day, after the hearing, the tribunal took cognisance of the charges against Inu.
According to the prosecution, 20 witnesses have been listed to prove the allegations of crimes against humanity against Inu. In addition, three audio recordings and six video files have been submitted as documentary evidence.
Inu was arrested on 26 August 2024 and has remained in prison since then. Later, he was shown arrested in this case of crimes against humanity for killings of six people in Kushtia during the July uprising last year.
He served as information minister during the Awami League regime. However, in the 12th parliamentary election, as a coalition candidate in Kushtia, he lost his seat to an independent candidate.
