After declaring former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia a “Very Very Important Person”, the Special Security Force (SSF) has begun providing security. From 2:20pm on Tuesday, SSF members assigned for VVIP special security have started their duty at the hospital.
This has been confirmed by BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan.
Around 2pm, vehicles of SSF members were seen entering Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital. On Monday night, the government decided to declare Khaleda Zia a VVIP and arrange special security, ie, provide SSF security.
Following this decision, police barricades around the hospital have been increased. Entry into the hospital has been strictly restricted to persons related to the patient only.
Earlier, around 12:30pm, during a press briefing, Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, stated that she is able to receive treatment. He said that specialists from the United Kingdom will arrive later in the day, for Khaleda Zia’s treatment.
Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare for the last 10 days. Due to a sudden deterioration in her physical condition, she has been shifted to the ICU for treatment.
Professor Zahid Hossain said that Khaleda Zia is able to receive treatment and maintain her treatment. He requested the media not to accept any statements or briefings from anyone other than concerned persons.
