Paramount Pictures has set 20 March 2026 as the release date for ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, the upcoming 3D concert film directed by James Cameron and starring Billie Eilish. The announcement comes after the original slot, intended for a Matt Stone-Trey Parker-Kendrick Lamar project, was vacated.
Eilish, a two-time Oscar winner and nine-time Grammy recipient, revealed the news on social media and during the final stop of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour in San Francisco. Cameron also confirmed the release on his social platforms.
The film captures Eilish’s third studio album tour, which she first teased at her Manchester concert in July, noting that Cameron had cameras in the arena to film the performances. While Eilish’s 2023 Live at the O2 concert film had a limited release, this Paramount-backed rollout marks her first full-scale theatrical push.
Paramount has not released a major concert film in years; its last high-profile effort was 2011’s ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never 3D’, which grossed nearly $100M worldwide. The studio recently announced it will release at least 15 films in 2026, coinciding with Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ in December, offering an ideal platform to promote the Eilish film.
Hit Me Hard and Soft follows Eilish’s Grammy-nominated album of the same name, which earned seven nominations at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and saw the single ‘Wildflower’ nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 68th Grammys.
