The interim government has promoted 23 police officers to higher ranks, according to three separate notifications issued by the Home Ministry on Monday.
Among the promoted officers, Additional Inspector General (Grade-2) of Dhaka Range Police Md Matiur Rahman Sheikh has been elevated to Grade-1.
Additionally, 12 police officers have been promoted to the rank of Additional Inspector General. The Superior Selection Board recommended their promotions under the BCS (Police) cadre, which the chief adviser approved.
The promoted officers include Addl IG (Current Charge) Mohammad Golam Rasul, former DIG of Dhaka Range AKM Aowlad Hossain, Addl IG (Current In-Charge) Md Akram Hossain, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasib Aziz, DIG of Dhaka CID Gazi Jasim Uddin, Addl IG of Police Headquarters Abu Naser Mohammad Khaled, Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Commissioner Md Rezaul Karim, Addl IG (Current In-Charge) of Counter Terrorism Unit Khandker Rafiqul Islam, Addl IG of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Md Mostafa Kamal, Addl IG of Police Headquarters Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, DIG of Industrial Police Md Shibgat Ullah, Director of Rajarbagh Police Hospital DIG Sardar Nurul Amin.
In a separate notification, 10 superintendents of police (SP) were promoted to additional DIG. They include Md Jannatul Hasan of Police Headquarters, Md Shahabul Islam of Pakshi Railway Police, AIG Atia Husna of Police Headquarters, SP Shah Momtazul Islam of PBI, Additional Commissioner ASM Shamsur Rahman Bhuiyan of DMP, SP Mohammad Manirul Islam of Special Branch (SB), SP Md Kafil Uddin of River Police, SP Sheikh Zainuddin of PBI, SP Nur Rezwana Parvin of Tourist Police, and SP AKM Akhtaruzzaman of SB.
Another notification announced the transfer of seven police officers, including Additional Commissioner SM Nasiruddin of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) to DMP, AKM Zahirul Islam of Industrial Police to DMP, Dr Masura Begum of Police Headquarters, Abdullah Al Mamun of 13 APBn to DMP, Mahmuda Begum of CMP to Industrial Police, Khaleda Begum of Police Headquarters to APBn, and SM Shafiqul Islam of RMP to Gazipur as Additional Commissioner.
