Nine members of a teen gang have been arrested along with sharp weapons in an army operation at Cancer Goli, Rayerbazar, in the capital.
The arrestees are Maruf, 19; Md Sani, 18; Md Alal, 19; Md Rifat, 20; Md Sojib, 19; Md Rana, 19; Md Sabbir, 18; Md Najmul Hasan, 19; and Wasim, 22.
The arrests were made after locals called the army hotline. Four teams from the Basila army camp reached the spot, conducted the raid from 12:30am to 3am on Wednesday, and arrested the nine.
According to locals, some businessmen and residents organised a protest rally in Rayerbazar on Tuesday against the teen gang’s illegal activities. At that time, the gang members wielded sharp weapons and attempted to attack the rally.
During the raid, several sharp weapons were recovered.
Local businessmen said they will file a case.
