Few stars have remained as cherished across generations as Babita. As the legendary actress turns 74 on 30 July, the celebration is not merely of another birthday but of a remarkable legacy built on unforgettable performances, national honours and the enduring love of audiences at home and abroad.
This year is particularly significant as she recently received the Ekushey Padak, Bangladesh’s second-highest civilian honor, adding to her collection of National Film Awards, the Who’s Who Award, and the Ma Padak 2026.
Babita remains the only Bangladeshi actress to star in a Satyajit Ray film, the classic Ashani Sanket, which introduced her to global audiences. With over 250 films and experience as a producer, she considers the enduring love of her audience her greatest reward. She expressed deep gratitude toward her son, Anik, and her colleagues—including directors, crew, and fellow actors—stating she has no complaints and feels her life is full of achievements.
To celebrate, Babita traveled to Toronto to be with her son. The pair will then visit North Hollywood for the Anandamela Award and Cultural Programme 2026 at the Church of Scientology. On 2 August, she will be honored with her first Lifetime Achievement Award in the United States before returning to Canada on 5 August.
The festivities also include a musical tribute titled Our Dream Girl, premiering on Best TwentyFour’s YouTube channel. The project, featuring a music video Babita filmed on 22 July, was conceived by Ovi Moinuddin and written by Omar Faruk. Furthermore, her lasting impact is recognized in Texas, where 5 August has been observed as Bobita Day in Dallas since 2023. Through these honors, Babita continues to be cherished as one of Bangladesh’s greatest screen icons.
