Seven workers suffered burn injuries in a boiler explosion at the Akij Cement Factory in the Bandar area of Narayanganj on Saturday. They have been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The injured are Ferdous, 38, Rakib, 25, Monju, 28, Tarek, 21, Babul, 30, Khorshed, 28, and Habib, 35.
According to the victims, the explosion occurred inside the factory while they were working around 8 pm. Nearby workers were burned in the blast. They were immediately rescued and taken to the hospital.
Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute’s emergency department, said all the victims are in critical condition. He further stated that up to 14 percent of their bodies have been burned.
