Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8am on Monday, bringing the country’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 938 this year.
The DGHS disclosed the figures in its latest measles update released on Monday afternoon.
The report said no child died from confirmed measles infection in the past 24 hours. However, five deaths were recorded among children showing measles symptoms.
Since 15 March, a total of 839 children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country, while 99 children have died from confirmed measles infections. The combined death toll from measles and related symptoms now stands at 938.
During the latest 24-hour period, 83 children tested positive for measles, while 1,149 were reported with measles-like symptoms. A total of 1,055 children were admitted to hospitals, while 946 were discharged.
DGHS data showed that since 15 March, the country has recorded 150,652 suspected measles cases and 18,487 confirmed cases.
Of the total patients, 131,664 have been admitted to hospitals, with 126,921 receiving treatment and returning home.
