A mild earthquake jolted Dhaka and some other parts of the country on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Android Earthquake Alert System, the tremor measuring 5.9 magnitude on the Richter scale occurred around 5:15pm. The epicentre of the earthquake was Assam in India.
The quake also shook neighbouring countries, including Nepal, India, Myanmar, Bhutan, and China.
Bangladesh has experienced around 150 tremors in the last 15 years. Experts say the small earthquakes are often considered precursors to larger ones. A major earthquake typically occurs once every hundred years.
