A total of 43 listed firms, a non-listed state owned bank and four non-government organisations (NGOs) have been recognised across 17 categories at the ICMAB Best Corporate Award 2025 for their excellence in corporate practices.
The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) assessed their performance on both financial parameters and non-financial indicators.
The Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were presented at a gala ceremony in the capital on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin as chief guest, who handed over the awards to the winners.
Under the state owned commercial banks category, Sonali Bank received the Gold award.
Recognition in the private commercial banks category saw BRAC Bank win Gold, while The City Bank and Eastern Bank received Silver and Bronze respectively.
The Islamic Shariah-based private commercial banks category had Shahjalal Islami Bank as the Gold winner.
Awards in the non-bank financial institutions category went to IDLC Finance with Gold, DBH Finance with Silver and IPDC Finance with Bronze.
For non-life insurance, Reliance Insurance secured Gold, Green Delta Insurance won Silver, and Sena Insurance and City Insurance jointly received Bronze.
In the life insurance category, National Life Insurance took Gold, followed by Pragati Life Insurance with Silver and Sandhani Life Insurance Company with Bronze.
Top honours in pharmaceuticals manufacturing went to Square Pharmaceuticals, while Beximco Pharmaceuticals and The IBN SINA Pharmaceutical Industry received Silver and Bronze respectively.
The cement manufacturing category saw Premier Cement Mills win Gold, Crown Cement Silver and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Bronze.
In textile manufacturing, Paramount Textile secured Gold, Square Textiles won Silver and Envoy Textiles received Bronze.
Gold in the MNC manufacturing category was awarded to Marico Bangladesh, while Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh and British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company received Silver and Bronze, respectively.
The engineering and other manufacturing category recognised Bangladesh Steels Re-Rolling Mills with Gold, BSRM Steels with Silver and Bashundhara Paper Mills with Bronze.
For power generation, transmission and distribution, United Power Generation and Distribution Company won Gold, Summit Power received Silver and Doreen Power Generations and Systems secured Bronze.
The oil, gas and energy category awarded Gold to MJL Bangladesh and Silver to Eastern Lubricant Blenders.
Among NGOs, BRAC received Gold, Society for Social Service and ActionAid Bangladesh jointly won Silver, while Sajida Foundation secured Bronze.
In the agricultural and food processing category, Olympic Industries won Gold, Index Agro Industries received Silver and Rangpur Foundry took Bronze.
The trading and assembly category saw Walton Hi-Tech Industries secure Gold, Runner Automobiles win Silver and Singer Bangladesh receive Bronze.
Finally, in the IT and telecommunication, Grameenphone received Gold, Robi Axiata won Silver and Bangladesh Submarine Cables secured Bronze.
ICMAB said the Best Corporate Award is intended to promote transparency, accountability, innovation and sustainable growth while encouraging organisations to uphold high standards of corporate governance in Bangladesh.
Among the special guests at the event were Financial Reporting Council Chairman Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, Commerce Ministry Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and Internal Resources Division Secretary and National Board of Revenue Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan.
Selection of the winners followed a detailed evaluation by 46 expert members of ICMAB, with the final list reviewed by a jury board chaired by former Bangladesh Bank governor Mohammed Farashuddin, alongside Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust Board of Trustees President Anis A Khan and Credit Rating Information and Services Executive President Muzaffar Ahmed.
At the beginning of the ceremony, ICMAB Corporate Award Committee Chairman and past president Arif Khan delivered the welcome address.
ICMAB President Mahtab Uddin Ahmed later delivered the presidential speech highlighting the importance of sound corporate governance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ICMAB Secretary Mohammed Jahangir Alam.
