Five people including four of a family were killed when a private car rammed into the rear of a parked truck at Maligram on the Dhaka–Bhanga Expressway in Faridpur early Tuesday.
Two other people were injured in the accident around 4:30am in Bhanga upazila, said Nur Alam, sub-inspector (SI) at Shibchar Highway Police Station.
The parked truck was loaded with gas cylinders.
Authorities are currently working to identify the victims, SI Nur Alam said.
Abu Zafar, station officer of Bhanga Fire Service, said fire fighters and police personnel rescued the victims and sent the injured to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex.
They were later shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Police have recovered the involved vehicle, and legal proceedings regarding the accident are currently underway.
