Four more children have died with symptoms of measles in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,097 children have been affected by measles and measles-related symptoms during the same period.
The figures were recorded from 8am on Tuesday to 8am on Wednesday, according to the latest measles update released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday afternoon.
The DGHS said in a statement that four children died with symptoms of measles in the last 24 hours. However, no child died after being confirmed to have contracted measles.
Since March 15, a total of 884 children have died with suspected measles symptoms across the country. In addition, 99 children have died after being infected with confirmed measles.
Overall, 983 children have died from measles and measles-related complications during this period.
The DGHS said 63 children were diagnosed with measles in the past 24 hours, while 1,034 others showed measles-related symptoms.
During the same period, 953 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 959 children were discharged after receiving treatment.
According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases since March 15 has reached 160,184, while confirmed measles cases stand at 19,447.
Of the total patients, 140,472 have been admitted to hospitals, with 135,417 patients already discharged after treatment.
