The authorities concerned identified 379 polling centres as risky across the five constituencies in Gaibandha.
There are 675 centres located across 82 unions in seven upazilas within the five constituencies. Among these, 65 centres are situated in remote char areas. The total number of voters is 2,172,499, and there are a total of 40 candidates.
In Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj), which consists of one municipality and 15 unions, there are 123 polling centres. Of these, 41 are considered risky, with 11 classified as highly vulnerable.
Gaibandha-2 (Sadar) comprises one municipality and 13 unions with 118 polling centres. Out of 51 vulnerable centres, 11 are highly risky.
Gaibandha-3 (Sadullapur-Palashbari), containing one municipality and 19 unions, has 146 centres. Among 87 centres, 17 are highly risky.
Gaibandha-4 (Gobindaganj) has 142 centres across one municipality and 17 unions. Of the 105 vulnerable centres, five are highly risky.
Gaibandha-5 (Saghata-Fulchhari) includes 17 unions with 146 centres. Out of 90 risky centres, 35 are highly vulnerable.
District Election Officer Md Shahidul Islam said, “All preparations for the upcoming election have been completed.”
Gaibandha Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md Masudur Rahman Mollah said that to ensure a fair election, 1,100 army personnel, 40 executive magistrates, and 15 judicial magistrates will be deployed. In addition, 2,500 police personnel and 14 RAB patrol teams will be active.
He added, “CCTV cameras have been installed for constant monitoring of the polling centres. All types of preparations have been completed for fair voting.”
