The government has prepared 37 official residences for ministers and state ministers, Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan said on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, Adilur Rahman said the houses are located in Mintoo Road, Hare Road, Dhanmondi and Gulshan in the capital.
He added that preparations are underway to arrange additional residences if required.
“These houses will be ready by the time the ministers and state ministers take their oath,” he said.
On the issue of the Prime Minister’s official residence, the adviser said a decision would be taken after discussions with the BNP.
“The matter will be settled in line with their preference,” he noted.
Responding to questions about the government’s performance, Adilur Rahman said the administration assumed office through a mass uprising and had spent the past 18 months working in the public interest.
“We have tried to move the country forward from over 15 years of fascist rule and place it on a new trajectory. We have remained accountable to the people for our actions,” he said.
When asked about a recent corruption report by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), the adviser said the organisation should address questions regarding its findings.
“I do not think public discussion and TIB’s report necessarily align. If you speak to those who took part in the anti-fascist movement, you may find a different perspective,” he said.
Adilur Rahman added that reform initiatives have been undertaken in several sectors, though some efforts remain incomplete. He expressed hope that the remaining reforms would be finalized in due course.
