The Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) has announced a 32-player squad for the preliminary national team selection trials ahead of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships 2026, scheduled in New Delhi, India, from 17–21 July 2026.

The trials will be held at the Shaheed Tajuddin Indoor Stadium in Dhaka from 1–4 April 2026. The 32 selected players include the top 16 from both the men’s and women’s national divisions.

Using a league format, the BTTF will select the top six players from each division, forming a 12-member special training camp lasting approximately two and a half months. Following the camp, the final five-member men’s and five-member women’s teams will be chosen to represent Bangladesh at the Commonwealth Championships.

To enhance the quality of the training camp, the federation is in discussions with a highly reputed international coach from India, with preparations expected to begin in April once the terms are finalised.

BTTF General Secretary Captain A M Maksud Ahmed Sonet said: “Since taking charge, the ad hoc committee has emphasised a train-and-test or selection league system for forming the national team. Positive results have already emerged from this approach. A proper selection process is essential for players to improve match temperament and overcome performance anxiety.”

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s junior table tennis team will participate in the South Asian Regional Youth Table Tennis Championships 2026 in Shimla, India, from 8–11 April 2026. Players are undergoing intensive training at BKSP, with only a short three-day Eid break allowed.

For junior players Khoi Khoi Sai Marma, Reshmi Tanchangya, Oishi Rahman, Nafiz Iqbal, and Joy Islam, this will be their final junior tournament. Before heading to Shimla, four junior boys and four junior girls will take part in the Commonwealth selection camp, gaining exposure and experience ahead of the main competition.
