Police have arrested three suspects after a man was brutally beaten to death in Gafargaon Upazila, Mymensingh following a long-standing dispute over house land boundaries.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Md Abul Qader, 55, Md Mazharul, 30, and Md Imran Islam, 25, all residents of the same upazila.
According to police and local sources, Sohoruddin and Aman Mia, along with their families, had been engaged in a long-standing dispute over the boundary of a residential plot. Despite multiple local mediation attempts, the conflict remained unresolved.
Sources said that the dispute escalated when Alam Mia, 30, allegedly assaulted Aman Mia’s mother, Ashiya Begum.
In retaliation, Aman Mia and his family reportedly dragged Alam Mia to a room in their house and subjected him to a severe beating, killing him on the spot around 5pm on Thursday.
Alam Mia’s body was recovered by police around 1:30am the following day.
Mymensingh Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance & Administration) Md Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed that Alam Mia’s body has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Authorities continue to search for other suspects, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
