Police have arrested 25 people during a special operation in the capital’s Jatrabari area over their alleged involvement in various crimes.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the arrests in a press release issued by its Media and Public Relations Division on Wednesday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sanjibon Sarker Jibon, 54, Nitu, 33, Mahmuda Akter, 31, Md Rubel, 30, Mohsin, 34, Nuri, Umme Habiba Rahman, Lal Mia, HM Abdul Mannan, Kalu, Nur Nahar, Md Sumon, Rajib alias Raju, Md Shishir Hossain, 20, Shafiqul, 27, Md Jisan Hossain, Md Rony Bepari, 29, Ifat Khairul Islam, 29, Md Solaiman Hasan, 28, Enamul Haque, 33, Md Rifat, 22, Md Rafi, 27, Md Alamgir, Md Mostafa, 31, and another Md Rubel, 30.
According to Jatrabari Police Station sources, a special drive was conducted over the past 24 hours in several crime-prone areas under the jurisdiction of the station.
Police said the detainees were arrested on allegations of involvement in different criminal activities.
They were later produced before the court after completion of necessary legal procedures, police added.
