At least 20 people were injured when a passenger bus overturned in the Sapchhari area on the Rangamati–Chattogram road on Thursday morning around 11:30am.
The accident occurred around 11:30am when the bus, which had departed from Naniarchar, lost control in Sapchhari, struck a hillside, and flipped over.
Passengers said they work in various parts of Chattogram and were returning to their workplaces in a reserved bus following the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Local residents and commuters from other vehicles conducted initial rescue operations, taking the injured to Rangamati Sadar Hospital.
Dr Shawkat Akbar Khan, Resident Medical Officer of Rangamati Sadar Hospital, confirmed that 20 people were admitted for treatment. While most are receiving care at the Sadar hospital, one unidentified young man sustained critical injuries and was referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
