Show-cause notices have been served on two National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders in Kushtia over allegations of breaching party discipline.
Jannatul Ferdous Tony, the chief coordinator of the party’s Kushtia district unit, confirmed the matter.
The notices were served on Friday to Ibadat Ali, senior joint coordinator of the NCP’s Kushtia district branch, and Helal Uddin, chief coordinator of Kumarkhali upazila.
The notices cite allegations of embezzling funds from government-allocated rice and accepting financial benefits from other political parties during the election period, in violation of party policy.
The accused leaders have been directed to provide a written response to the notices within the next seven working days.
Regarding the matter, Tony said, “If they can prove themselves innocent against the raised allegations, no organisational action will be taken. And if they cannot prove it, we will inform the centre. They will take the necessary measures.”
