Two people, including a teenager, died in separate road accidents in Dhaka on Saturday night.

The victims’ identities are yet to be confirmed, with police working to establish their names.

The incidents occurred in Jatrabari and Demra.

According to Jatrabari police, at around 11:00pm, a truck ran over a boy, approximately 13 years old, on the road in front of Dania College. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The boy’s identity is currently unknown, though initial reports suggest he was a street child.

Police are investigating to verify his identity.

In Demra, a 40-year-old man died in a separate accident on the bridge near the staff quarters.

Eyewitness Rabiul Islam said a fast-moving leguna vehicle rear-ended a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, which in turn collided with a van. The impact caused the van driver to fall from the bridge.

He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Both bodies have been sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for post-mortem examination, police confirmed.
