2 killed, 6 injured in Pirganj three-way collision

Two people were killed and six others injured in a three-way collision involving two trucks and a bus on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Pirganj on Friday morning.

The accident occurred in front of the Pirganj filling station.

SM Mizanur Rahman, in charge of the Boro Darga Highway Police Outpost, stated that a Rangpur-bound truck struck another truck parked on a one-way section of the highway near the petrol pump.

The collision caused the stationary truck to crumple and fall onto the road. Subsequently, a Hanif Paribahan bus approaching from behind rammed into the wreckage.

One passenger, identified as Munni Akhter Rahima, 30, from Gazipur, died at the scene. Seven other passengers were seriously injured and transported to the Pirganj Health Complex.

Another passenger, Abdur Razzak, 50, from Haragach in Rangpur, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the complex.

Police have recovered all three vehicles and taken them to the station. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their respective families. A case has been filed under the Road Transport Act in connection with the accident.
