Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the officers-in-charge (OC) of all 16 stations of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) have been transferred simultaneously.
This information was confirmed through an official letter signed by CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz on Saturday.
The order stated that this order will be implemented immediately.
OC of Kotwali Police Station, Abdul Karim, has been transferred to Panchlaish Police Station; OC of Sadarghat Police Station, Abdur Rahim, to Bandar Police Station; OC of Bakalia Police Station, Aftab Uddin, to Kotwali Police Station; OC of Panchlaish Police Station, Mohammad Suleman, to Bakalia Police Station; OC of Bayezid Bostami Police Station, Jasim Uddin, to Chandgaon Police Station; OC of Chandgaon Police Station, Zahedul Kabir, to Bayezid Police Station; OC of Khulshi Police Station, Shahinur Alam, to Karnaphuli Police Station; OC of Double Mooring Police Station, Mohammad Babul Azad, to Chawkbazar Police Station; OC of Halishahar Police Station, Nurul Absar, to Pahartali Police Station; OC of Akbar Shah Police Station, Mohammad Arifur Rahman, to Sadarghat Police Station; OC of Pahartali Police Station, Zamir Hossain Zia, to Double Mooring Police Station; OC of Karnaphuli Police Station, Zahedul Islam, to Khulshi Police Station; OC of Bandar Police Station, Mostak Ahmed, to Patenga Model Police Station; OC of Patenga Police Station, Kazi Mohammad Sultan Ahsan Uddin, to Halishahar Police Station; OC of EPZ Police Station, Kamruzzaman, to Akbar Shah Police Station; and OC of Chawkbazar Police Station, Shafiqul Islam, has been transferred to CTSB.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) of CMP’s Public Relations Branch, Aminur Rashid, said that the transferred officers have been released from their existing duties and have been instructed to join their new posts until further orders.
A massive reshuffle is underway in the field administration of the police ahead of the election, scheduled to take place in February of next year. On 4 December, the officers-in-charge of 50 stations under DMP were transferred.
Additionally, 14 deputy commissioners (DC) from various departments were also reshuffled. On 2 December, the OCs for 527 police stations under various districts were finalised simultaneously. The OCs were selected through a lottery at the Ministry of Home Affairs. Among them, 74 are new faces.
Police Headquarters sources said that out of a total of 639 police stations across the country, 527 are in districts and 110 are in metropolitan areas.
Among the 527 OCs at the district level, 98 have been appointed in Dhaka Range, 111 in Chittagong, 64 in Khulna, 36 in Mymensingh, 46 in Barisal, 39 in Sylhet, 71 in Rajshahi, and 62 in Rangpur.
Earlier, on 26 November, a gazette notification was issued regarding the posting of police superintendents of the country’s 64 districts through a lottery.
Additionally, at least 33 additional DIGs have been promoted to DIG, and a new commissioner has been appointed for Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
