“State Minister for Shipping Md Razib Ahsan has ordered the immediate transfer of 16 officials and employees following a series of surprise inspections at offices in Dhaka and Barishal.”
The disciplinary action followed the state minister’s unannounced visits to the ministry and its subordinate departments and agencies.
During these inspections, several staff members were found absent from their posts without prior authorisation, while others were observed arriving significantly after the scheduled office hours.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction over the lack of discipline, Md Razib Ahsan directed that administrative measures be taken against the individuals involved for their negligence of duty and breach of professional conduct.
In accordance with the state minister’s instructions, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has stand-released 13 personnel from its Barishal office.
This group includes nine from the Dredging Department, two from the Marine Conservation and Operations Department, one from the Port and Transportation Department, and one from the Accounts Department.
Furthermore, three officials and employees from the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) have also been issued immediate transfer orders.
The state minister has instructed all government employees to ensure their timely presence at the office and to discharge their duties with sincerity and responsibility.
He emphasised that such surprise inspections will continue in the future to uphold discipline, accountability, and the standard of service within government organisations.
