At least 127 Bangladeshi passport holders were stranded for hours after a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight was grounded at Kathmandu International Airport on Sunday due to a technical glitch.
Flight BG372 was scheduled to depart Kathmandu for Dhaka at 4pm, with boarding set for 3pm, according to passengers’ boarding passes.
The flight could not take off as scheduled after the aircraft developed a technical fault.
The passengers remained at the airport, uncertain about when they would be able to return home.
“The flight was supposed to leave at 4pm, but it still hasn’t departed. We have no idea when we will be able to leave,” passenger Md Nuruzzaman said.
Mohiuddin Khan, general manager of Biman’s public relations department, confirmed that the aircraft had been grounded due to a technical problem.
“We are trying to send another aircraft to bring the passengers back home,” he said.
He said a larger Biman aircraft was scheduled to fly to Kathmandu around 10pm to bring the stranded passengers back to Dhaka.
