Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has sent back 10 individuals, including women and children, to India, just hours after they were allegedly “pushed in” by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) through the Kochurgul border in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar.
Locals said they first spotted the group near the border on Thursday morning and informed personnel of Lathitila BOP under 52 BGB Battalion in Beanibazar.
BGB members later took them into custody and kept them at a nearby house before pushing them back into India the following day.
Meanwhile, several videos of the incident circulated on social media on Thursday night, showing members of the group-particularly women-crying and pleading for help.
The individuals claimed they had travelled to Gujarat, India, in search of livelihood in 2025 and 2026.
They were eventually detained by Indian authorities and subsequently pushed across the border into Bangladesh.
The group includes Riadul Molla, 55, Sabbir Sheikh, 19, Farida Begum, 40, Labiba Khatun, 8, Suba, 32, Dilruba, 38, Rita Begum, 40, Ria Begum, 25, Laily Khatun, 28, and Salma Khatun, 27.
Lieutenant Colonel Ataur Rahman, commanding officer of BGB-52 Battalion, said the individuals were detained with the help of locals and later sent back across the border.
He said BGB remains alert to prevent such incidents and maintain border security and stability, adding that intelligence reports suggest some locals may be assisting in such “push-in” activities, and legal action will be taken against them.
