Ten people suffered burns in an air‑conditioner (AC) explosion at a barbershop in Alubazar area under Bangshal in Old Dhaka.
The accident occurred at the Arman Salon around 1am Wednesday. The injured were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The injured are Md Faruk, 35; Md Rinku, 30; Roni, 36; Jasim, 40; Md Rafik, 25; and shop employees Shamsed, 30; Raju, 34; Pappu, 26; Arman, 37; and Shakib, 17.
Shawon Bin Rahman, resident medical officer at the institute, said that nine of the injured have been admitted for treatment.
Shakib, with only 1 per cent burns, was not admitted but kept under observation in the emergency department, the physician added.
The exact cause of the AC explosion was not immediately known.
