A deadly explosion occurred in a septic tank in Ashulia, claiming the life of one individual and injuring at least ten others, several of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
The incident took place early in the morning at a tin-shed house in the South Para area of Bhadail, Ashulia, owned by Rahmat Ullah. Police and Fire Service officials arrived at the scene shortly after being notified.
According to police, the septic tank exploded violently, causing severe damage to the tin-shed house. Abdul Rabbani, the caretaker of the house, died on the spot. Among the injured were men, women, and children, all of whom were quickly rushed to hospitals, including Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, for treatment.
Local sources, including Mohammad Faruk Khandakar, vice secretary of Ashulia BNP, reported that when the house was being built, a pipe was supposed to be installed to prevent the buildup of excess gas in the septic tank.
However, this pipe was never put in place, leading to a dangerous accumulation of gas, which is believed to have caused the explosion.
Police have conducted an inspection of the site and are investigating the true cause of the devastating explosion.
