The Coast Guard has detained a youth with three firearms in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed the matter on Thursday morning.
He said that acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted in the Panirchhara Bazar area of Maheshkhali around 3pm on Wednesday. During the drive, the Coast Guard arrested a notorious criminal with three locally made firearms.
Legal procedures are underway against the detainee, the official added.
He further said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such drives in the future to maintain law and order across the country.
