Taiwanese venture Yeijer Shoe Parts (BD) Ltd will set up a footwear and footwear accessories manufacturing facility at Cumilla Export Processing Zone (EPZ) with an investment of $5.03m, expanding production of insoles, outsoles, midsoles and PU shoes.

Under the project, the company will produce annually 3 million pairs of insoles, 1.2 million pairs of outsoles, 3.2 million pairs of midsoles and 1 million pairs of PU shoes. The facility is expected to create employment for 500 Bangladeshi nationals.

The company has signed a land lease agreement with Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) for the project at Cumilla EPZ.

The agreement was signed at BEPZA Complex in Dhaka on Thursday by BEPZA Executive Director (ED) for Investment Promotion Md Tanvir Hossain and Yeijer Managing Director Xia Ruihong, with BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain witnessing the ceremony.

BEPZA Executive Chairman welcomed Yeijer Shoe Parts (BD) Ltd and assured full support from BEPZA to ensure smooth operations within the zone, adding that BEPZA continues to promote diversified investment beyond the RMG sector.

The signing ceremony was attended by BEPZA Member for Engineering Abdullah Al Mamun, ED for Enterprise Services Md Khorshid Alam, ED for Administration Samir Biswas and ED for Public Relations (Additional Charge) Khadiza Parvin, along with senior officials from BEPZA and representatives of the company.
