A Supreme Court lawyer filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking an investigation into the role of former chief adviser Muhammad Yunus regarding measles vaccination.
The petition also requested a directive prohibiting foreign travel for Yunus, and 24 people including former advisers of the interim government.
Supreme Court lawyer M Ashraful Islam on Sunday filed the petition, alleging involvement in shifting measles vaccination from the state system to the private sector.
The cabinet secretary, the health secretary, the home secretary, the public administration secretary, and the director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), among other officials were made respondents.
Earlier, on 6 April, a legal notice was served demanding investigation into alleged criminal activities involving the transfer of vaccination programmes like measles from state to private control.
Lawyer Ashraful said measles, once nearly eradicated, has suddenly re‑emerged with deadly outbreaks nationwide. Many children have died, while countless others have been hospitalised with measles.
The legal notice was sent to the cabinet secretary, health secretary, home secretary, and other relevant ministries.
