BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that democratic processes cannot succeed without the support and participation of the people.
He warned that attempting to carry out actions without public backing would undermine democracy.
Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by the Bangladesh Protibandhi Kalyan Samity in Uttara on Monday afternoon, Amir Khosru stressed the importance of unity among citizens and cautioned against creating divisions under the pretext of demanding various rights.
“Creating divisions will amount to disrespecting the Constitution,” he said. He urged all political parties to seek mandates directly from the people and emphasised that sustaining democracy requires political parties to operate based on the trust and support of the public.
“Without public participation and backing, democracy will suffer if anything is attempted unilaterally,” he added.
Amir Khosru also highlighted BNP’s commitment to empowering persons with special needs in the future Bangladesh, calling for necessary financial, moral, and humanitarian investment. He appealed to the government to make these investments as required, wherever and however necessary.
