Bangladesh lost to West Indies in the second T20I by 14 runs while chasing 149 in Chattogram. On Wednesday The Tigers stumbled to 135 for 8 after 20 overs, conceding the series 2-0 with one match still to play. Now, the Windies are eyeing a 3-0 clean sweep against Bangladesh in the final T20I on Friday.
Interestingly, Bangladesh had whitewashed the West Indies 3-0 in the T20I series during their last tour of the Caribbean. When Alick Athanaze, who played a blistering 52 off 33 balls, was asked if the side was looking for revenge, he smiled and replied lightheartedly, “I don’t think I was there, but if we get that chance, we’re definitely going to go for it.”
Although he wasn’t part of that previous series, Athanaze made their current intention clear. “That’s the intention, but we don’t take anybody lightly,” he said. “We’ll try to give our best on Friday and play another good game,” the left-hander added.
“It was a very good innings, like you said, but the execution at the end wasn’t up to the mark. The intention was to play my match-up, he (Nasum) was my match-up at that time,” Alick said about his innings.
Bangladesh will face the West Indies on Friday in the final match of the series, aiming to avoid a whitewash on home soil.
