After appearing in more than 800 dramas and other productions, actor Tawsif Mahbub has built a diverse body of work spanning romance, comedy, family stories and psychological thrillers. But which of his performances stand out most to his wife, Zara Mahbub?
On her husband’s birthday, Zara revealed her 10 favourite works from his extensive career, offering a personal look at the performances she holds closest to her heart.
Chokro
At the top of her list is the OTT series ‘Chokro’, which she considers one of the notable projects of Towsif’s acting career. The mystery-driven series explores psychological tension and features the actor in a different light.
Subarnapur Beshi Dure Noy
Her second choice is ‘Subarnapur Beshi Dure Noy’, a 2014 drama written and directed by Redwan Rony. Starring Towsif alongside Orchita Sporshia and Shabnam Faria, the story follows a group of friends who visit a village for photography. There, one of the young men falls in love with a village girl, while his friend from the city develops feelings for him, creating a complicated romantic triangle.
All Time Dourer Upor
Zara’s third pick is ‘All Time Dourer Upor’, directed by Adnan Al Rajeev. The early-career drama follows three friends—Imran, Jisan and Amzad—who share a flat in Dhaka. Their frequent disagreements and the attempts to resolve them provide much of the story’s humour and charm.
Epitaph
The fourth spot goes to ‘Epitaph’, a romantic triangle featuring Towsif, Mehazabien Chowdhury and Irfan Sajjad. Towsif plays a small-town young man who falls in love with Mehazabien’s character. Their relationship takes a new turn when another man enters her life.
Kanamachi
Himel Ashraf’s romantic drama ‘Kanamachi’, featuring Towsif, Shabnam Faria and Mishu Sabbir, ranks fifth.
Ami Tomar Golpo Hobo
The sixth choice is ‘Ami Tomar Golpo Hobo’, a 2018 Valentine’s Day drama directed by Mobarrur Rashid Bannah, with Towsif and Mumtahina Toya exploring love and the desire to become part of someone’s life.
Kanamachi Short Film
Zara’s seventh selection is the short film ‘Kanamachi’, in which Towsif plays Ripon, a physically disabled university student who develops a relationship with Rini, a visually impaired student played by Safa Kabir. Ripon works as a night guard at the university while continuing his studies, relying on a bicycle left to him by his father.
Bachelor Point
The popular serial ‘Bachelor Point’, directed by Kajal Arefin Ome, comes eighth. Towsif played Nehal in the first two seasons before taking a break from the role. He returned in the fifth season in 2025. The series follows the friendships, romances and everyday experiences of young people sharing life in Dhaka.
Khowabnama
Vicky Zahed’s suspense drama ‘Khowabnama’, featuring Towsif opposite Tanjin Tisha, takes ninth place. The actor attracted attention for performing in a scene with six live snakes.
Amar Rajye Tumi
Rounding out the list is ‘Amar Rajye Tumi’, directed by Masrikul Alam. Featuring Tawsif as Siam alongside Keya Payel and Malaika Chowdhury, the drama explores whether love alone is enough to keep two people together, touching on separation and unfulfilled relationships.
Zara’s selection spans different stages and genres of Towsif’s career, from early dramas that helped establish his popularity to more recent suspense and OTT productions. Her choices offer a glimpse into the performances that have made a lasting impression on someone who knows the actor beyond the screen.
