West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday gave the official nod for the transfer of land to Border Security Force (BSF) to facilitate fencing along the border with Bangladesh.
The decision was announced during a media briefing held after the first Cabinet meeting, reports India TV.
Addressing the press, Suvendu confirmed that the administrative process of handing over land in border areas for security purposes has commenced immediately.
The state administration has set a clear deadline for the initiative, with the objective of completing the transfer process within 45 days.
“The process of transferring land in border areas to the BSF for the purpose of border security begins today,” Suvendu said, highlighting the urgency of the security project.
