Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim has stated that no citizen will be forced to leave their home if the ‘Hand Fan’ symbol is victorious in the upcoming elections.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at an election rally held on Saturday at the Bauphal Public Field. The rally was organised in support of Mufti Abdul Malek Anowari, the Islami Andolan-nominated candidate for the Patuakhali-2 (Bauphal) constituency.
In his address, Rezaul Karim, known as Charmonai Pir, criticised the conduct of traditional political parties, noting that while all parties promise development before an election, they often resort to persecuting opponents once in power.
“Apart from one group, another cannot stay at home; they have to flee,” he said, according to a press release issued on the same day.
He pledged that a victory for the ‘Hand Fan’ would ensure the elimination of corruption and terrorism, while freeing the country from foreign subservience.
Addressing young and first-time voters, the IAB chief emphasised that national elections differ from local ones because the elected representatives and parties formulate the laws that govern the nation. He argued that even if an individual is good, the country cannot function effectively if the underlying policies are flawed.
Referencing the July mass uprising, he stated that students and the general public struggled against “old laws and rules”. He warned that the sacrifices and blood of the youth would be in vain if the country continued to be governed by the same systems that have prevailed over the last 54 years.
Rezaul asserted that Islami Andolan is the only party advocating for the replacement of old regulations with Islamic law. He urged the youth to cast their first votes in favour of Islam, the nation, and humanity.
Concluding his speech, he remarked that the “roots of Islam are deeply embedded” in the soil of Bauphal and called upon the electorate to reflect this reality in the upcoming polls.
