In celebration of Victory Day, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is set to stage a nationwide musical tribute on December 16, bringing the iconic songs of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra to audiences across all 64 districts.
According to the organisers, the initiative aims to honour the cultural front of the Liberation War by reconnecting citizens with the music that inspired and energised the nation during its struggle for freedom.
The programme will feature timeless patriotic compositions originally broadcast in 1971, performed by artistes of the present generation. BSA noted that the simultaneous presentations will take place at district venues under a unified format designed to ensure both fidelity to the original spirit and accessibility for contemporary audiences. Local administrations and cultural bodies are partnering to facilitate stages, sound and public attendance.
Officials stated that the selected songs represent some of the most enduring musical expressions of wartime resilience, unity and hope. By engaging young performers, the event intends to bridge generations and reaffirm the historical memory embedded in these works.
Audiences of all ages have been invited to attend the commemorative performances, which organisers describe as an opportunity to relive the emotional landscape of 1971 and to celebrate the country’s hard-won independence through music that continues to resonate.
