UTSHO Bangladesh brought music lovers together in the capital on Friday as celebrated artists Bappa Mazumder and Somnur Monir Konal shared the stage at UTSHO Sandhya 2025 to raise funds for underprivileged children, according to a press release.
The concert was held on 21 November at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Convention Center in Shahbagh, where a full house enjoyed an evening of live performances dedicated to supporting marginalised children, said the release.
Bappa Mazumder opened the night with Dalchhut, performing his popular track Brishti Pore along with audience favourites including Din Bari Jay, followed by Konal who began her set with the title track Priyotoma from the film of the same name.
They performed around 15 songs across their sets, including Bappa’s Pori, Baji and Tomakei Bole Debo and Konal’s Rajkumar, Bosonto Chole Jay and Ghum Jorano, said the release.
Konal also performed Joan Baez’s Song of Bangladesh as a tribute to the Liberation War while their duets Ektu Jodi Takao Tumi and Chokher Bhitor Shopno emerged as crowd favourites.
This was the first time the two artists performed a collaborative concert and both expressed appreciation for contributing to a cause centred on children’s welfare.
UTSHO said all proceeds will support more than 500 children and adolescents studying in its two schools and eight Aastha daycare centres located in Dhaka’s slums.
Speaking at the event, UTSHO Founder and Executive Director Mahbuba Akter Mahmood Leena said the organisation began with only three children 32 years ago and has remained committed to building a country where children grow up in safety, joy and dignity.
