In a major move to support the ceasefire agreement, the United States has deployed 200 troops to Israel, as confirmed by US officials on Thursday. These troops are part of an operation to monitor and aid the peace deal that was approved earlier this week. The US military personnel are set to establish a “civil-military coordination center” to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and provide logistical and security support.

The troops will not enter Gaza but will remain stationed in Israel to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the ongoing peace efforts, reports Reuters, AP-UNB and agencies.

The US Central Command will operate the newly established coordination center, where around 200 US service members will oversee the distribution of aid into Gaza and assist in security operations. The troops’ expertise in transportation, logistics, engineering, and planning will be key to ensuring a smooth flow of supplies and maintaining stability in the region.

Additionally, the coordination effort will involve partner nations, NGOs, and private entities working together to monitor the ceasefire’s effectiveness and the eventual shift toward a civilian governance structure in Gaza.

Humanitarian Efforts in Gaza Intensify Amid Ceasefire Agreement
The ceasefire, brokered with the involvement of the US and Israel, marks the first step towards a longer-lasting peace. The deal has already led to some crucial humanitarian exchanges, including a prisoner swap, with 20 Israeli hostages set to be freed along with 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.

However, challenges remain as Israeli airstrikes continued to hit Gaza even after the agreement was announced, and over 2 million people in Gaza remain displaced.

Humanitarian officials are working tirelessly to deliver aid, but only a fraction of the required supplies has been delivered due to blockades and ongoing conflict. The UN is pushing for immediate access to aid in Gaza, calling for a collective international effort to alleviate the dire conditions in the region.

The deployment of US troops highlights the significant role international forces will play in stabilizing the situation and ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches the millions suffering in Gaza.
