Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has held a courtesy meeting with Stefan Liller, the resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh office.
The meeting took place on Thursday morning at the Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Zahidul Islam Rony confirmed the information to journalists.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ongoing cooperation between Bangladesh and UNDP, along with issues including sustainable development, education, health and employment.
They emphasised working together to make Bangladesh’s development process more dynamic, inclusive and effective.
Stefan Liller congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on forming a government with an absolute majority. He said that, in UNDP’s view, the national parliament is now very vibrant and the country’s democracy has been strengthened.
The Prime Minister outlined various initiatives under his government’s election commitments. He mentioned the family card and farmer card distribution programmes and said these initiatives aim to improve the living standards of citizens.
He also sought continued support from development partners for Bangladesh’s overall development and sustainable progress.
Others present at the meeting included Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education, Expatriate Welfare and Labour Mahdi Amin, UNDP Strategic Communications and External Relations Specialist Kirtijai Pahari, and Head of Governance Anwarul Haque.
