Professor SMA Faiz has stepped down as Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
Citing physical illness, he has submitted the resignation letter addressed to the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
In the letter, Faiz said that he assumed the role of UGC Chairman on 5 September 2023 following a government notification. He has now proposed stepping down from the position.
The UGC Chairman also urged the ministry to take urgent measures through the Secondary and Higher Education Division to process his request for release from the post.
Faiz signed the letter in his capacity as UGC Chairman, calling for immediate government action on the matter.
