United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has received ISO 27001:2022 certification for its information security management system, reinforcing the bank’s information security and cyber-risk controls.
The certificate was handed over at UCB’s head office on 19 January by Mukut K Barua, country head (Bangladesh) of Bureau Veritas, and CEO Moshiul Islam, CEO of Enterprise InfoSec Consultants to Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, managing director and CEO of UCB, the bank said in a press release.
Other senior executives were also present.
Rashid said cyber risks are rising alongside digital transformation and that the certification brings UCB’s information security framework in line with international standards.
UCB said the certification reflects its continued focus on maintaining global standards in IT security. The bank said its IT security framework has not been compromised and its service delivery has remained uninterrupted.
As part of its digital infrastructure, UCB operates a secure data centre, a large-scale virtualisation platform, a core banking system, and a load-balanced network. The bank also maintains in-house software development and core banking system customisation capabilities.
The certification underscores UCB’s stated commitment to secure and compliant banking services.
