Two people died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 27 since 1 January this year. During this period, 327 new patients were hospitalised across the country.
According to the regular briefing from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 297 of the new patients were admitted to government hospitals, while 30 were admitted to private hospitals and clinics.
From 1 January 2026 to 13 July 2026, a total of 8,650 dengue patients have been hospitalised nationwide. Of them, 7,800 patients have been discharged following recovery. Currently, 823 patients are undergoing treatment at various government and private hospitals.
Of the two deaths reported in the last 24 hours, one occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, while the other was reported in the Chattogram division (outside the city corporation).
Both victims were women, one aged between 26 and 30 and the other between 31 and 35. To date, of the 27 total fatalities, 15 were female (55.6%) and 12 were male (44.4%).
Regional situation
In the last 24 hours, the highest number of new admissions was recorded in the Dhaka division (outside city corporation areas) and the Barisal division, with 61 patients each.
Other admissions include 43 in DSCC, 38 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 48 in Chittagong division, 45 in Khulna division, 17 in Mymensingh division, nine in Rajshahi division, four in Rangpur division, and one in Sylhet division.
Since the start of the year, the Dhaka division has recorded the highest cumulative total of 3,073 hospitalisations, with 2,056 patients treated in Dhaka city hospitals and 1,017 outside the capital.
This is followed by 2,242 in Barisal, 1,520 in Chittagong, 1,126 in Khulna, 290 in Rajshahi, 283 in Mymensingh, 77 in Sylhet, and 39 in the Rangpur division.
Fatality statistics
Division-wise data shows that the Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of deaths at 12, including six in DSCC, five in DNCC, and one outside the city corporations.
Additionally, five deaths occurred in Mymensingh, four in Chittagong, three in Khulna, two in Barisal, and one in Rajshahi. No deaths have been reported in the Sylhet or Rangpur divisions so far.
Demographics and Monthly Trends Of the 8,650 patients infected this year, 5,283 are male (61.1%) and 3,366 are female (38.9%). The most affected age groups are those aged 16 to 20 years (1,156 cases) and 26 to 30 years (1,153 cases).
Monthly statistics indicate a sharp rise in cases recently: 2,907 cases (13 deaths) were recorded in June, and 2,546 cases (9 deaths) have already been reported in the first 13 days of July.
Earlier this year, there were 1,081 cases (2 deaths) in January, 409 (2 deaths) in February, 353 (no deaths) in March, 640 (no deaths) in April, and 714 (1 death) in May.
