The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced another reduction in domestic gold prices, lowering the rate by Tk2,158 per bhori (11.664 grams).
With the adjustment, the price of 22‑carat gold now stands at Tk219,808 per bhori.
In a notice issued Tuesday morning, BAJUS said the new rates would take effect from 10am. The association explained that the price of pure gold in the local market had fallen, prompting a revision of overall rates inclusive of VAT.
Under the new pricing, 21‑carat gold has been set at Tk209,894 per bhori, 18‑carat gold at Tk180,267, and traditional gold at Tk147,316.
BAJUS said the revised prices will remain in force until further notice. Wages will apply depending on jewellery design, but VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, meaning customers cannot be charged separately.
According to BAJUS, gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 91 times so far this year — increased 44 times, reduced 46 times, and revised once for VAT.
