Two youths were killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a pickup van in the Khorulia area of the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway.

The deceased have been identified as Rishan, 19, and his friend Md. Arafat, 21. Both were residents of the Muktarkul area in the Jhilongjha union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila. The injured youth, Md Sani, 18, is a resident of the Darga area within the same union.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Nasir Uddin, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramu Highway Crossing Police Station, stated that the three friends were travelling by motorcycle from the Darga area towards Bangla Bazar station at noon.

The accident occurred near Khorulia High School when their motorcycle collided with a pickup van coming from the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision threw all three riders onto the road. Local residents rescued the victims and rushed them to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, where attending doctors pronounced Rishan and Arafat dead.

According to medical sources, the condition of the injured, Sani, remains critical.
